EdQuity is a non-profit organization that strives for equity in educational opportunities for students and young adults. We are led by an international group of secondary school and university students who are passionate about education and its accessibility to all, especially Hong Kong students and young adults. We make a difference by organizing events such as mentorship, discussion-based learning, and seminars for Hong Kong students and young adults for free.
EdQuity was founded with empathy for the limitations and difficulty in achieving institutional change. We understand that any social change must begin and eventually act at the most vital level - the local - in order to manifest. Hence, our mission is to mobilize capable and passionate youths to provide extra support to primary school and secondary students and to take part in dialogue and action on improving education and reducing education inequity starting at the local level. Since 2019, we have already impacted 191 lives.
Through hosting free-of-charge events like one-to-one mentorships, design thinking workshops, interactive forums on career and life planning, and discussion-based learning sessions, we encourage students to not only excel in the curriculum but, more importantly, to develop passion in utilizing their experience, talents, and knowledge to help those who are suffering under disparity in access to education. We have become a hub for students of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, values, and ages, and yet all possess the same passion for voicing their opinions and taking action when appropriate. Ultimately, we have nurtured and will continue to nurture youths capable of original thinking, articulating and expressing their ideas, and contributing to reducing education inequity in Hong Kong.
