'Ed's corner' at AGS Rugby Playing Fields

Hi. Most of you will know me as Rambo and I'm fundraising in memory of Ed Dean, a student at AGS between 2005 to 2012 and friend. Coming to terms with such a tragic loss is not easy but what is clear, is that Ed touched the lives of so many people within the AGS community, from his teachers, to his peers and their parents. I will particularly cherish the memories that we shared within Ed's 7-year commitment to AGS rugby and I think it would be fitting to ensure that his name and memory live on in this area of school life.

Ed's parents, Kay and Stuart, will be creating an annual award, which will be won by an outgoing student in Year 13, who has committed the most to AGS rugby over their 7 years and consistently demonstrated the core values of the game: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.

I would like us, Ed's friends, to create a tribute to him, up on the top fields of AGS, where we play our rugby games. In the far bottom corner of our fields, overlooking the 1st XV rugby pitch, we develop 'Ed's corner', where we plant a small tree in his memory and have a memorial bench.

To lay a concrete base, and purchase a tree and bench, we will need to raise £1000. Considering how many of us have been affected by Ed's loss from within the AGS community, this should be easily feasible. What would be nice, is if we could do this in time for an official opening at one of our home rugby games this Autumn. We could then turn back the clocks and for one more time, hit the Broadleys or Millwrights for an after-match pint and celebration.

So, if you would like to support this memorial, then donate and let's hit that £1000 mark asap to ensure it happens very soon. Any money raised in excess of the final cost of Ed's corner will go towards the creation of a bursary scheme, again in Ed's name, which would help out an AGS student, who might have financial barriers to participating in rugby at school.
