Eduardo Pantoja Family Fundraiser

Alejandro Pantoja has 2 small children that have gone through some extremely difficult health issues.
Eduardo Pandoja is 7 years old. When he was 4 years old he had a liver and kidney transplant. After the dual transplant he suffered from Metabolic Acidosis. Metabolic acidosis is a disorder that occurs when the body produces excessive amounts of acid, such as ketoacids or lactic acid; the kidneys are unable to remove enough acid produced from normal metabolism; or the body loses too much bicarbonate ion. If unchecked, metabolic acidosis can lead to acidemia, which is arterial blood pH lower than 7.37 due to increased production of hydrogen ions by the body or the loss and/or inability of the body to form bicarbonate in the kidney or gastrointestinal tract. Its causes are diverse, and its consequences can be serious, including coma and death. Together with respiratory acidosis, it is one of the two general causes of acidemia.
Eduardo was doing well until about 5 months ago. While living in Las Vegas, Eduardo began complaining of pain in his stomach. Doctors would tell him that it was nothing but a stomach ache. Over about 4 months Eduardo was back in the doctors office and emergency room several times. Each time the doctors found nothing wrong. Alejandro contacted Primary Children’s Hospital and they recommended that he bring Eduardo to Utah immediately. Alejandro flew Eduardo and his daughter who was also waiting on a liver and kidney to Salt Lake. Eduardo was immediately admitted to Primary Children’s Hospital and had an emergency surgery to remove part of his intestine. The surgery was very intense and left an open wound for 8 days that required cleaning twice a day for the entire time. Eduardo spent over 2 weeks in the hospital.
While waiting for Eduardo to recover, a liver and kidney came available for Ximena. Ximena was admitted to Primary Children’s Hospital and received a dual transplant. Her transplant went very smoothly and she was released after 2 weeks.
Both children continue to have a feeding tube that delivers food during the day and night. Both children are struggling to adapt to the change in life and learning how to sleep with the sounds of the feeding machine. They are all 3 currently living at the Ronald McDonald House as the hospital wants to keep them in the area. They have no other family here and have not been able to spend time with their mom as she is still in Las Vegas.
On October 21st Ximena’s doctor requested to see the entire family as they have found something wrong with her heart. At this time there if no further information on the heart condition but I will keep you informed.
It would be great to allow the children’s mom a chance to come see her children. I know that Alejandro is trying to keep things together in working every day and still caring for his kids
We are asking you to help us raise funds to help Eduardo and Alejandro with their medical bills and day to day needs.
Any amount will help($5, $10, $25 etc).
Please share with any family, friends, co-workers that you might think would like to help this family out in their time of need.
