Eduardo’s Brain Surgery and recovery

Donation protected
On January 4th my partner Eduardo, suffered a intracranial hemorrhage which was caused by an spontaneous AV (arteriovenous) malformation ruptured. He needed to undergo a craniotomy however at that rate the neurosurgeon suspected that he would not make it through the surgery. Luckily he has surpassed all our expectations but not only making it through the surgery, he also suffered minimal nerve damage. He is fighting every day to come back home to us, so we want to fight to be able to make sure we are able to accommodate him and his needs as well.

While he is able to feel and move all his limbs, he has hydrocephalus (which is caused by his inability to process his own Cerebral spinal fluid. He has an EV drain which helps to drain the fluid for him and we are hoping they will remove it soon. His brain is swollen (cerebral edema), and due to the area that the hemorrhage occurred he has trouble speaking and coordinating his movement. Additional he is fighting aspiration pneumonia, and losing muscle mass and physical strength quickly.

He also had not been able to swollen which means he has essentially been in a negative caloric deficit, and may need a PEG feeding tube.

His recover will be long and while we do have insurance thankfully, we would like to avoid bankruptcy at all costs. I am not still unsure about the assistance he will need once he discharged however, I want to make sure that he is able to focus on recovering.

Before this he was in school for kinesiology and planning to apply to PT school in the upcoming months. With that said, we have been aggressively paying off student debt so our emergency fund is lacking and we are not able to cover the expenses associated with his surgery, hospital admission and ongoing treatment.

At this moment he is still in the ICU however, I and we haven’t not heard any news regarding a discharge.

I would like to start building a fund to at least cover the expenses accumulated at this point that can cover his hospital bills, and minimal personal expenses to ensure that he will not have to worry about the financial burdens of his health care.

I love and care for him and his family very much, and am obviously trying my best to continue working throughout all this. We appreciate any help that you’d be willing to provide.

If you are unable to be overtly charitable but still want to help. I am editing resumes on a sliding scale with a minimum of 70. For inquires regarding this you can contact me through instagram. Thank you for your help during this difficult time.

***After speaking with his family, they’ve decided that 25k is a reasonable goal given the fact that his recovery may be longer than expected. While I would like to remain optimistic, it is better to be realistic especially given the fact that we will likely need to make renovations to accommodate his needs, and we will be solely relying on my income for the unforeseeable future. Thank you again for your help.
