Educate and help some of Cambodia's poorest youth

Founded in 2014, the Building Future Opportunity Kbalromeas School (BFOK) provides educational and vocational opportunities, language, and skills training to over 400 countryside children and young adults aged 6 to 18 in Kokdong Village, Toek Vil Commune, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The Building Future Opportunity Kbalromeas School works to fill the gap between education provided by the national government and real-world demand. Even though public schools provide free education at the primary and secondary levels in Cambodia, the curriculum focuses on Khmer and other subjects like math. English instruction is very limited in quality and quantity, with only 1.5 hours of class per week. Public schools also do not provide classes in computer skills, other important languages or life skills, e.g. how to grow food and feed animals (organic farming and sustainable living), take care of the environment (reducing plastics pollution), and stay safe (including transport and food safety).
As a result, most children and adults in the Khmer countryside from poor families are not able to speak basic English, or even pursue higher education. Children who grow up without proper education are more likely to face unemployment, food shortages, hygiene and health issues, and are at greater risk of being drawn into illegal activity such as drug addiction and family violence.
The BFOK is working to reverse this, providing a much-needed hand up to some of the country’s poorest children and youth.
With regard to teaching English, BFOK teaches English at all levels, from basic to advanced levels to over 300 students a day. Students learn and practice their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills with assistance from qualified teachers and school resources, e.g. an English book library. All classes (of 10-30 students) are taught by Khmer teachers and foreign volunteers (when available), primarily on a volunteer basis due to lack of funding. Classes are held daily from Monday to Friday. The starting age for students at the school is six and older.
To enhance their school life and provide holistic development, BFOK also provides classes in art, sports, agriculture, computer skills, social work and education, hygiene, food security and environmental issues, all keys to unlock a better future in Cambodia. BFOK is a leader in providing sustainable development, through which the community can benefit for many years from learning to be self-reliant, and building strong self-esteem among children and their families to aid them in building new futures for themselves and their communities.
BFOK aims to continue exploring ways to improve the quality of education for the prosperity of the people in each community, with financial and in-kind support from local and overseas individuals and organisations. It currently receives USD 9 000 per year in donations, which means that its staff are donating much of their time and talent to aid Cambodia’s poorest students.
Please help us raise the funds to sustain the school's current needs, pay its teachers, provide supplies and learning materials and expand the school to more students and families - so as to build Cambodia's future!
