To fight the russian aggressor, US must educate Ukrainian children.

There are many cases in history when the US government helped win wars but the outcome still did not meet the desired outcome.

President Obama and Mitt Romney both pledged to leave Afghanistan in 2014. But neither discussed the importance of establishing schools. The Taliban are most scared of books, not bombs. It is even more evident in 2024 now.

In 2007 biographical drama, "Charlie Wilson’s War", Tom Hanks, who played the role of Congressman Charlie Wilson in the movie, pleaded with lawmakers, “One million dollars for school reconstruction….Did you hear me say? It was a million, not a billion, for a school construction?”

Svitlo Education was founded in response to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Our aim is to nurture the future social and political leaders of Ukraine who will be able to rebuild the country post-war, providing them with a safe and supportive online environment to achieve these ambitions.

Svitlo is a free, online extracurricular school offering quality education in English, and to date, we have supported over 2,500 Ukrainian students. Accessible to any Ukrainian regardless of prior knowledge, location, or socio-economic background, Svitlo operates outside traditional school hours and focuses on bridging educational gaps instead of following the standard Ukrainian curriculum.

Our mission is to illuminate the future of the children of Ukraine by teaching them English and interchangeable skills, taught by British, American and world class teachers who foster democratic values, knowledge and confidence needed to take leading positions in the government and business of Ukraine as adults.

We are fortunate to be supported by our friends in the United States and hope to expand this circle of supporters!

Zoom has been supporting us from the start by giving free business licences to run daily lessons smoothly.

We are also deeply grateful to Pearson for offering 15 places for our students at Pearson Academy USA and two online schools, as well as for providing 70 free English tests for our students.

ISSOS at Yale University and The Summer School of The New York Times welcomed four of our students into their summer programs, giving them a safe and nurturing environment where they could sleep through the night, embark on new adventures, and experience different cultures and perspectives.

Svitlo has had the opportunity to present our cause and share our experiences at the Digital Learning Annual Conference (DLAC).

We have volunteers from around the US teaching: American Studies, Civic Studies, Budgeting, Mind and Body totalling to 7 lessons a week.

Our Arty friends from Squiggling Squad grant access to their platform to Svitlo for encouraging pupils to express their feelings through art and learn art skills.
