Education Changes The Destiny of Our Afghan Girls
Tax deductible
Dear Supportive Donors,
My name is Shagufa Habibi from Afghanistan. Since I left Afghanistan in 2015, my dream is to help Afghan girls receive a successful education the same as I have. I work closely with Marilyn Mosley Gordanier who is the director of Vida International School as well as the President of Educate Girls Now (EGN), a non-profit that provides Afghan girls with an education and protects them from child marriage. Since 2014, our team has been working to ensure that 298 girls receive an education. During this heartbreaking chapter in Afghan history, a time when a generation of girls is being denied access to schools, we provide 7th through 12th-grade girls with high-level education.
Educate Girls Now (EGN) strives to expand women's access to education, safety, and human rights while offering emotional, practical, and tactical support to lower-income Afghan families. Our strategy is to provide monthly financial support to each Afghan family under EGN to survive hunger and we provide support for girls to go to school. Since schools are banned according to the new regime, we continue our donations to our Afghan families and arrange online school programs for our Afghan kids. We are thankful that many kind people help us. Hundreds of our girls are receiving an education and 3 girls have already joined Asian University for Women in Bangladesh for higher education since 2021. With your kind donation, we are able to sustain our legacy to protect more families from starvation and save more girls from child marriage by helping them to achieve their dreams of getting an education.

The humanitarian crisis unfolding in Afghanistan has made our mission more pressing than ever before. We will never lose hope nor stop fighting for these young women. It is our responsibility to do everything in our power to offer them the opportunity for a brighter future. A future they richly deserve. Please support us as we work to improve the lives of these inspiring young girls.
You Can Do Something! There is hope! I called our volunteer coordinator, Shagufa Habibi for advice on how to help girls receive an education in the current environment. Shagufa had been forced into a child marriage when she was a young student. She escaped Afghanistan in 2015 after being granted acceptance at the Asian University for Women. With the help of international donors, including Educate Girls Now, Shagufa graduated from AUW and was accepted at Brandeis University, where she is currently in her second year of a Master of Art in International Economics and Finance in America.
Here is Shagu’s request!
“Since I escaped my home, I have been saved by donations from families around the world. I have faith that we are all here for each other in this universe. Please do not give up on Afghanistan, on girl’s education. I promise every dollar of your donation is a tremendous support to help us build hope for our girls and to save our girls from the cultural practice of child marriage by supporting them to receive an education. As we say in Afghanistan, “Humanity is still alive.”
No child should suffer from a lack of education, food, shelter, safety, and love. No girl deserves to be a child bride. Let’s not give up on our innocent kids in Afghanistan. We are grateful for every amount of your donation.
