Education for Kids in Gaza

Donation protected
Hi! We are a group of humans and innovators from around the world, who have gathered to help and support the efforts of some of the most inspiring humans we have met from Gaza

We are reaching out to share an incredible project in need of all of our support: Schools without Borders in Gaza, an initiative that provides mobile classrooms for young children in Gaza.

In a place where the destruction of vital infrastructure, including schools, has devastated daily life, this project brings an important sense of routine and a small sense of normality to children and young people in Gaza.

Two incredible teachers, Noor and Abdallah, just 24 years of age, refused to give in to desperation and started their project for Mobile School Education (School without Borders). Their aim was to keep kids in the camps active and increase their wellbeing, while preparing them to join school again in the future when regular curriculum resumes. What started with Nour as a single teacher moving with her mobile classroom kit in her backpack, has now turned into a full team of 18 teachers educating children in all kinds of subjects - Math, Science, English, and more - in fun and creative ways.
Our global community of STEM Educators at GIG wanted to help, and so we were able to provide two online trainings for the teachers, and it worked! Besides an internet connection, the rental of a training space with a screen, and procuring basic office supplies, Nour and Abdalla were able to gather 18 teachers to attend the trainings and now these teachers reach up to 300 kids in different camps in Southern Gaza on a regular basis.

We have decided to keep pushing the limits of what is possible, and now we are organizing trainings for young people between the age of 15–18 on all kind of life skills they might want or need, in order to deal with a very uncertain future.

The initiative was founded by Noor Nassar, a 24-year-old Palestinian lawyer and educator with UNICEF, and is now co-run by Abdullah el Baba, a Biomedical engineer by training.

As we spoke to them, we learned that not only do they want to expand their services to cover the whole of Gaza, but also want to replicate their experience in mobile education facilities in other crisis zones worldwide. Sudan, for example, is on the top of this list.

How can you support this important work?

Join us! There are several ways to support

Donate: Financial contributions will go directly towards expanding the mobile classrooms and initiating the mobile kindergarten and the youth skills program.

Volunteer your time: If you have a skill set that can be shared, consider offering online training to young people as part of the Youth Workshop & Skills Development Programme.

The project is supported by GIG Community - Global Innovators for Gaza, a collective of global innovators dedicated to using tools, open-source hardware, and resources to support humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
