Ashish Sharma, recently passed away after a 3 year battle with glioblastoma (stage 4 brain cancer) during which time he was bedbound for more than 2 years after suffering many complications. His daughter Rhea was 7 years old when he was diagnosed, and 10 years old upon his passing. He said, “I didn’t think it was possible to love someone as much as you do as a parent."
Ashsih was a professor of biomedical informatics at Emory University school of medicine. Ashish valued education above all else, choosing to work in academia after years of studying when he could have been successful anywhere. He said, “education is very important to me and I want my daughter to go to a good school, and would love if friends and family could contribute.”
Rhea has been and will be impacted by the protracted illness and loss of her dad in so many ways, including financial. Like any parents, we want to afford her every opportunity to thrive.
