Johnny Loggins, 74, died at his residence in Florida on January 14, 2022. He was born December 22, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Karen (Kay) Loggins, daughters Kristta and husband Josh Stephens of Pembroke Pines, Florida and Amanda and husband Rob Gladkowski of Cumming, Georgia and sons, Johnny Loggins, Jr. and Jeffry Loggins of Georgia; grandchildren Lilly and Violet Gladkowski and Lucas Stephens.
Johnny was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He obtained the rank of Sargent and left the service in 1969. He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service retiring after more than 41+ years of service in 2009.
He married Karen (Kay) Loggins in 1980 and they began their family in Lilburn, Georgia. Life and work took them to many locations throughout the U.S. including Nashville, TN, St. Louis, MO, Dallas, TX, Memphis, TN and Tampa, FL. At each step along the way, Johnny touched the lives of new friends and neighbors. Always willing to lend a hand, he frequently offered to help and was happy to make life easier for others. He loved figuring out complicated things and finding solutions. He enjoyed playing golf, boating, and making people laugh with his quick wit.
Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He was a devoted husband and father and adored by his grandchildren. He was a kind and caring man who made a difference in so many lives and will be sorely missed.
A memorial service to celebrate Johnny’s life will be held on Friday, January 21st at 3 p.m. at Blount & Curry Macdill, 605 S. Macdill Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33609.
In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing a GoFundMe education fund in memory of Johnny.
