Due to the COVID-19 situation, circumstances are starting to look more difficult, especially for low-income families. Students who usually rely on school resources no longer have access to them. Many families currently don’t have a steady source of income to prioritize school supplies for their children’s distance learning- and this is where SupplyHope(Info) takes action in fulfilling student’s needs.
As low-income high school students, Lau and Nguyen understand the hardships these communities face such as not being able to afford adequate school supplies. Lau and Nguyen are fortunate enough to be accepted into Minds Matter San Francisco, a non-profit college prep program, who have helped them overcome academic barriers associated with being underprivileged. Lau and Nguyen aim to give back to SF’s community of low-income students and help them overcome difficulties by donating school supplies. Although school is currently out due to the pandemic, we want to create foundational support for students even in their homes.
With a focus in the SF community, Lau and Nguyen plan to work with organizations to broaden the range of recipients. They will also connect with families to better understand their specific needs and fulfill them through the distribution of school supplies.
Through your generous donation, we will be able to create a foundation for students who come from a family of need. Even as much as $1.80 can help purchase writing tools. Help us fulfill the needs of as many students as possible!
