My name is Tienna and I am fundraising for the future of our young children.

In October, I visited a school where my cousin taught and met the most wonderful and clever children. Upon my visit I was utterly shocked at the lack of educational equipment & their environment of learning. There were piles of books collecting dust, chipped wooden chairs and tables, a bathroom that had only a tap for a sink and the was only the little things. I have never felt more privileged to have had the right equipment provided for me whenever I needed it as well as having a safe environment for learning. It was then that I truly felt that I had taken advantage of my educational experience, I never had to worry about not having a book for a subject, for each subject in fact, nor worry about running out of pens and pencils because they were right there. I felt that we were failing the future of these children, not only these children that my cousin taught but the other children that she will teach in the future.

After the visit I learned that sadly it was the same situation in all of the classrooms, I also learned that the teachers themselves provide for the educational equipment, which they don’t get paid for, I was told that some of the children often would miss classes because of the lack of resources and would miss greater education.

After gathering my thoughts, I believe that it would be best to reach out to you and ask for your help to raise money to buy school necessities such as books, pencils, colouring pencils etc. If we raise extra it will be used for a feeding program at the school for school lunch meal.

These children need your help, not only for their future but it might be for yours too. These children will be our future nurses, doctors, teachers, engineers etc.
