My name is Mariel Mash and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of one of my best friends, Vanessa Rivas, to help this single mother of 2 in this most difficult time.

Hello friends, family, and anyone reading this. Our lives changed in an instant with the unexpected news that we received on January 3, 2024. My son Edwin was diagnosed and is battling with a rare and aggressive stage II testicular cancer, a month after turning 17 years old.

He has undergone a procedure to remove the malignant tumor, but due to the type of cancer he’s unable to get surgery to remove the remaining cancer. Chemotherapy is his only option. He’s had a port put in a week ago to start chemotherapy.

The treatment is long, painful and costly. It debilitates you, disturbing your normal life. Since his diagnosis, he’s had surgeries, countless doctors visits, CT scans, lab work, follow ups, and treatment plan appointments. 

I am a single mother and the sole provider for my family. It will certainly be a long journey ahead with many challenges and expenses. This GoFundMe page was created to support Edwin during his fight and ease any additional stress on our family. All funds will help with costs associated with Edwin’s care (medical bills, sperm banking and ongoing storage, basic needs, transportation, etc).
