Edy Valencia's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Friday, July 21st, professional boxer, Edy Valencia Mercado, stepped into the ring for the 38th time in his career. What seemed like a normal competitive fight soon turned into a tragedy. Edy was rushed to the hospital for an emergency operation due to a cerebral hemorrhage. He was then put into a medically induced coma to bring down the swelling and pressure in his brain. He currently is in stable but critical condition and is responsive to some commands given by medical professionals.
Edy is 32 years old from Culiacan, Sinaloa. He has a beautiful family of 3 children ages 10, 12, and 13 and a loving wife. He is involved in his local community and loves helping the kids out in his coach's boxing gym. He's traveled all over the world chasing his dream as a professional boxer to better the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.
These funds will go towards any expenses he and his family may endure during this rough time. The road to recovery will be a long one but with faith and support from friends and family, we can help Edy overcome this battle.
For those unaware, I was Edy Valencia's opponent last Friday. My intentions are never to cause any long-term damage to my opponent. I am truly sorry and heartbroken. I want to send my best wishes and hopes to his family back home. This is a dangerous sport and Edy and I briefly messaged each other before our fight. There was never any bad blood. We both understood what was at stake and wished well for each other. I can't imagine what his kids and family are going through. HE WILL RECOVER! HE IS A WARRIOR! Lo siento mucho.
Thank you all for reading and donating to help support Edy and his family. Please share this link there is no donation too small.
