Nicaragua Fundraiser 2016

I am stepping into a *major role* as Tour Coordinator in Nicaragua with UK-based non-profit Performers Without Borders, a volunteer organization that travels to high poverty areas of the world to teach performing arts & circus to vulnerable children!
Starting January 2016, I'll be touring through Nicaragua for 3 months to work with children from ages 3-18. I will be teaching theatre games, flow arts, dance, and creating shows with my volunteer crew & the children to perform for their communities.
I was a volunteer on this tour in 2014, and the experience was utterly transformative, to say the least. I have since returned to Nicaragua 4 times, improved my fluency in Spanish, maintained strong connections with the partner organizations and gone back to visit and engage in workshops with the children we taught.
I am excited and totally nervous to lead an amazing team of artists from throughout the world in this endeavor!
WHY?
I have the opportunity to share & educate children about the joys of dance, theatre, and the amazing potential of our bodies, which I believe is our greatest instrument! Our goals are to inspire confidence, build community & dissolve social and economic barriers to foster an empowering & engaging experience for these kids. However, I will be challenged emotionally and physically: 3 months of working each day in a developing country with hot & dusty conditions, attentive and available to children that come from precarious situations, & responsible for the volunteer team as their group leader!
To join the PWB 2016 tour I have to raise 750 British pounds, which equals roughly $1143.00.
The money raised goes directly toward:
-the props for the shows, bags to carry PWB objects, & audio/visual equipment
-cost effective & reasonable travel to each project within Nicaragua for the volunteer team
-3 meals a day for the team, 2 of which are cooked at home
-accommodation for the team in each location
-a contribution towards an environmental fund
Now, based on my personal fundraising goal, I am attempting to raise more money. The remaining $1600.00 is for the following:
~My travel to and from Managua Airport, approx. $550
~travel insurance for the 3 months I am there in case something goes awry (In 2014 it cost me about $70 from https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/)
~My rent for my first month back after the tour, as I won't be making any income for 3 months while volunteering ($420)
~My own purchase of materials of wands & staves for teaching and donating to the project afterward($200). What is left beyond will go toward unanticipated/emergency expenses, such as baggage fees & appropriate clothing & food I can purchase while down there.
