The Monarch Building was built in 1909 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was original owned by Canadian-born Phillip St. Marie. The top two floors served as the Monarch Hotel, and in 1927 the first floor housed the Solor Cigar Store and the Savoy Cafe.
This Historic building which has been home to many as well as containing several different businesses throught its long and illustrious career met its demise today to fire and leaving unfortunetly many people homeless and without their possessions and wearing the only clothes they have left.Several people myself included are trying to raise money to help those that have lost everything in this tragedy.
