Berlioz's surgery- leg amputation
Donation protected
Berlioz
This kitten is 4-6 weeks old. It was found yesterday (10/15/15) in South Bend, Indiana by my sister. My sister is a professional photographer and she found this babe as she arrived at her studio.
My sister has three cats, a dog and three young children. She sent me pictures and said, "I'm taking your cat to the vet at 5." My sister and I melt over lost animals. This babe seemed hurt.
After the vet examination, my sister called me to say this little one did not have feline leukemia...thankfully, but it did have a broken leg. He weighs just one pound five ounces.
The vet examining this babe said it's injuries look consistent with being thrown from the window of a car! WHO DOES SOMETHING LIKE THAT and CAN LIVE WITH HIM/HERSELF!!!?
I researched kittens with broken legs and found that sometimes they can heal without surgery. THIS little one won't be that fortunate. Surgery MUST happen ASAP, but it needs to be amputation. It's back right leg is pretty shattered. There is no way it can heal.
I am willing to add this little one to my household, but I can't really afford a $1500.00 surgery. I have a 13 year old cat, who is diabetic. I have given her insulin shots, twice a day, for the past 9 years. I am an excellent care giver. Please help me get this little one started on the road to recovery. I am asking for $2000.00 just in case his medical fees are slightly higher.
I am sure with Halloween being just two weeks away and this guy being black, that played into his bad luck.
For more information about what has moved me to start this fund and help this babe, please visit my blog. www.hootieshappenings.blogspot.com.
I am Lisa Kroll...a.k.a. Hootie.
Funds raised above the actual medical fees will be donated to the veterinary clinic in South Bend that will do the surgery. The clinic has a fund for people who can't pay all of a bill. Others are asked to donate as they can. If there happens to be an over abundance of donations, I would also like to donate funds to the local animal shelter in South Bend and to my home animal shelter.
Berlioz is named in honor of the little black kitten in The Aristocats. He'll be sporting a red ribbon after his surgery!
Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for your donation.
