THE HUG

Logline:
Two mates experience a strange phenomenon when their goodbye method evolves from a handshake into a hug.

Filmmaking is a team game that requires many helping hands to bring a project to fruition. As a passion project/independent production, we need your help to make this film a reality. 'The Hug' is an exploration of male vulnerability, letting others in and showcasing a piece of our inner child, and is filled with both humour and heart.

The funds raised will go towards:

• Catering for our Cast & Crew
• Location Hire Fees
• Equipment Hire (Camera Equipment/Lighting Gear)
• Art Department (Props, Set Dressing, Costumes)
• Post Sound (Score/Sound Design)
• Marketing Costs (Festival Entry fees)

Who's involved?

Drew Kendell - Writer/Director
Drew is a natural leader who feels at home when collaborating with others. Drew's initial success as a director was centered around the idea of crafting projects off his own back - a do the work, and it'll get noticed philosophy, rather than waiting for permission to create. This approach has led to the creation of various award-winning commercial and music video projects. 2023 has seen Drew pivot back to his primary passion - narrative filmmaking. 'The Hug' came to him during an elongated goodbye in a local beer garden. The love and reliance of his support network of male friends have helped fuel his desire to create an entertaining piece with an emotional anchor.

How can you watch the film?
Once the film is completed a private copy will be shared with the cast, crew and anyone who has helped support the project. From here, the film will be submitted to a range of film festivals (MIFF, Flickerfest, Slamdance etc) and will later have a permanent home online after completing its festival run.
