Hi, my name is Bryn and I am a mother to my six year old mischievous black cat Eggsy. Eggsy is a unique and special cat who is fond of playing with his little sister Bo and with watching birds from our window. Everyone who knows Eggsy would describe him as weird, strange, and downright odd, but also sweet unique and adorable. Last week Eggsy, looking for some late night fun decided to play with a needle and thread that were sitting on a sewing bench and sadly he swallowed both, lodging the needle in his throat. Eggsy came bounding down the stairs with a beaded feather trailing behind him. My sister and mom sprang into action and cut the string so that it would hopefully not cause internal issues, however we didn’t know where the needle went. After two days of observation we decided that something was up because Eggsy was hiding and not eating. When we finally found him behind the couch he was very weak and tired, then we knew that we needed to get him help as soon as possible. When we got him to the vet they confirmed our worst case scenario that he had indeed swallowed the needle. Eggsy has been to two vets who have both said they need to remove it with a scope and if they are unable to remove it he will have to be moved to another vet who can remove it through chest surgery as they would have to access the needle through his chest. I am a full time student in university and am not fully prepared to deal with his medical expenses, if anyone could find it in their heart just to contribute a little bit to Eggsys bills that would be a great stress relief for us. Thank you all and please hope for a speedy recovery.
Update: The needle was unable to be removed by a scope and the vet Decided to keep him overnight for observation. When they went to go check on him in the morning they realized that his left back leg had become paralyzed and his right leg was on the way to becoming paralyzed as well. The needle was not the cause of all this but may have been a stressor to accelerate what they suspect may have been Heart disease. With all these factors Eggsy was not strong enough to undergo surgery and was in pain and suffering, and sadly we had to make the hardest decision ever and had to let him go. Eggsy was surrounded by our family and we got to hold him and say our goodbyes. He peacefully passed one on February 11th 2024. Eggsy was everything to me and was my sweet baby boy. Having to do this was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do but I couldn’t let him be in pain any longer. Rest in Peace Eggsy, I hope there’s a lot of string in the sky for you to play with. Love you forever my boy
