Help my Mom Fight Cancer

My name is Tristan Thompson, and I’m a server at a local bar in my town.

At the beginning of 2020, my mother was diagnosed with a laundry list of medical problems, all localized to her gallbladder. Gallstones, infection, perforations, gangrene, and eventually cancer. We were told that the cancer she had was extremely rare, and highly aggressive, but since the initial news, we had carried on the fighting as we could.

She had a major surgery to remove the tumor, along with her gallbladder, 15% of her liver, and pieces of her small intestine. Scans and margin testing showed no signs of cancer remaining, but they put her on a low dosage of chemo and planned on following with radiation once the treatment was over. We got a scan done, and on December 28th, we prepared for the good news that the fight was nearly over, and that life would return to normal. That isn’t what we heard. The nurse told us that cancer had metastasized in her liver, and by her tone, it seemed like all hope was lost.

She went in for a scan, and they told her the cancer was terminal. We haven’t gotten a window of time yet, and I’m not sure I’d want to know it if we did. I’ve started this gofundme to try to raise the funding to repair this house so that we can leave it behind and I can get her somewhere nicer to heal, or at least live out the rest of her time peacefully.

Any of you who know me know that there are two things that are certain about me. I’m very reserved and prideful, and I love my mother more than anything in the known universe. I’m asking for help because I’ve run out of options. With the economic climate the way that it is, I’m barely making the money to pay the bills at home, and mom hasn’t been to work in 10 months.

I understand that donations might not be in the cards for everyone, but sharing this post and spreading the word is completely free and just as helpful. I implore you, please help me spread this as far as I can.

Any funds remaining after we finish this project will be directly put back into gofundme by way of others on the site who are raising money for cancer related issues, so that I know it’ll go to someone who needs it and not an organization.

I know that everyone says their mother is special, but this is a woman whom I have never seen do wrong, has always put others less fortunate than her before herself, and after years of giving me everything she could, I’m just trying to give her a better place to rest and fight on.
