Herron Family

Hello, My name is Lora. And I am one of the younger sisters of Christa Herron and the sister-in-law to Chris Herron. I am writing this and creating a "Go Fund me" page on behalf of my sister, her family and their situation. I want to start out letting you know about the Herron family first. They are a family of 7 and are a true "Yours,Mine and Ours" family. They have  a heart after God, and a deep love of family and friends. Their middle daughter, my neice,  Faith was diagnosed with excessive bilateral femoral anteversion ( basically her femurs twist inward from hip to knee causing her to be very knock kneed and pigeon toed) to reach an excessive diagnosis she had to have a 15 degree twist of her femur, hers were 32 degrees and 29 degrees. She, like most children, went through an awkward phase but they noticed that her love of distance running grew into frustration and she would make excuses not to go running over the past 6 months. She also complained about squatting and didn't want to walk anywhere either, she then broke down into tears and told them how bad she was hurting even when she didn't move her pain was a 5. Chris and Christa's hearts broke! knowing she could not do what she loved and was always in pain. They immiediately called her Dr, and were referred to the Andrews institute where she saw two leading orthopedic Dr.'s, who were concerned with her diagnosis and sent her to a world renowned pediatric surgeon in Mobile who specializes in her condition. At her appointment they found that no P/T was going to help Faith and that she would need surgery soon to fix her issues with her legs. So they proceeded with surgery. Faith wanted to do both legs at the same time so she could get back to training all spring in hopes of running with Cross Country at Niceville next year. So on Thursday Oct. 8, Faith went into a 4 hour surgery to have both her femurs broke and rods screwed into place to straighten her femurs so that she could walk, run and squat pain free! This surgery is called a bilateral femoral derotational osteotomy, I watched it on Youtube and my heart just ached for her. Recovery is painful, long and hard. She has already showed so much strength and grace through this process but knows she has a long road ahead. She has to be helped 24/7 to make sure she is not overdoing it but still trying to move some with help from people carrying her, using a wheel chair and now she is trying to use a walker some. The really crazy part is the Monday prior to Faith's surgery ,Chris injured himself at work and has a Level 3 tear of his hamstring and his recovery is 3 months. This means 3 months out of work and 3 months he will not be able to help with Faith either. He can't work through this healing process and has to take it easy, which means not driving and not walking alot and the little he does he has to use crutches. He will find out at the 6 week appointment if he needs surgery because they want him to heal as much as he can on his own. Chris is the provider of the house and it has really hit them hard.He will get some from workers comp due to his injury happening at work but it will only be pennies compared to what he was use to bringing in to make all the bills. Chris is a good father and a hard worker and would work long hours and hard to provide for his family.  My sister is now taking care of Faith, Chris, the other 4 kids & the household and having the stress weighing on her on how the bills are going to be paid. Chris knows this and tried getting up to push through the pain but it was only making his injury worse and recovery would have been longer. They do not live an extravagant life, as many of you already know this. They coupon for groceries, Christa is well known at the bargin box where she does alot of shopping for the family clothes. They have one car that is an older car but it is paid and only owe a small amout on their family van. They do not live in a huge or new house, but it is home to them. But with a family of 7 it takes money to make sure everyone is fed and has electricity, water and ect. I say all this because they get through life cause of their Faith in God, their Family, and Friends. They are always there for others when people need them and now they are in need themselves.Which brings me to why I am writing this and setting this up. My sister and Chris will help out anyone in need whether they know them or not. They will go above and beyond to help others but when it comes to them needing help they will keep it to themselves and will not ask due to not wanting to burden others. Therefore I am asking on their behalf. Chris and Christa are great people and I hate to see them stressed over what is going to happen or how they are going to get through this time. This is something she said to me when we were talking about it "This just seemed to all come at once and we are praying our way through this, we know God knows the end from the begining and are trusting Him in all things. Things may come,  but we know we will overcome." Even through their storm they are still singing God's praises and that makes me examine myself on how I would handle this, could I sing His praises in such a stressful situation. They have blessed so many people with the things they have done for others and I believe it is their turn to be blessed. I am asking each of you reading this ,if you can, to donate to helping them. They are having to still pay all the bills to live day to day but now have all the added Dr. copays and expenses for Faith's follow up appointments, which they have to travel to Mobile to the Dr's who preformed the surgery. I am not asking you to pay for their bills cause they just don't want to or they are lazy, they are not that kind of people and you all who know them already know this. If you don't know how much then just pray and ask God to lay an amount on your heart. Any amount would be a blessing to them. If you do not feel like God is laying it on your heart to financially give then I ask for your prayers for them through this time, I know they would appreciate your prayers just as much if not more than any donation gift. I am going to let Christa know that I have done this and I am going to give her the login so she can keep every one up to date on the progress of Faith and Chris and so she can thank each of you all for caring for her family so much. We are so blessed to have amazing people in our lives that care so much. Please feel free to share this with other that you know. God Bless.
