Top Surgery

Hello friends and new friends!

 

My name is Colton (they/them) and I am humbled to be writing to ask for your help and support. For as long as I can remember, I have felt uncomfortable with my chest, as though this part of my body is not mine. I am a mover, a shaker, a dancer, and cannot wait to fully embrace every movement in a way that I have held back from feeling. I can't wait to stand up straighter when I have, in fact, slouched to hide/diminish my chest. I have battled nearly every variation of "why do I want to be smaller," when I am a person with a loud laugh and even louder love of life.

 

For those who don't know me and I have once again skipped the small talk, I am a transgender, non-binary, queer, musician, music therapist, runner, dog owner, lover, and friend to many. I work one full time job and a part time job and accept nearly every gig and volunteer opportunity that comes my way. I love helping others and love seeing others ignite. I have a lot of energy and joy to share. My journey has had many curves and pathways leading me to the happiest expression of myself- which this surgery will help me with.

 

On December 28th, 2021, a few months before my 30th birthday, I will be having top surgery with Dr. David Whitehead (any pronoun). This gender affirming surgery is so important to me and I still can not believe it is only 50 days away! Feeling super supported by my community of friends and loved ones too! I have wanted this surgery for many years and to be able to find a surgeon that accepts my insurance and is a compassionate advocate for trans identities is such a blessing.

 

Where is your money going:

-Surgeon/Surgery Costs

-Hospital Bill

-Time Off Work

-feeding me and my care team for the recovery period (thank you, I love pad thai!!)

-My insurance has a deductible of $3000, which the majority of this money will go towards.

 

Ideally, I'd like to receive funds by December 23rd.

 

If I receive any extra funds outside of what I would need, I will donate to other transgender top surgery go-fundme campaigns.
