Eid Gifts for Afghan Refugee Children
Donation protected
In August of 2021 thousands of Afghan families fled their homeland due to the Taliban takeover. Over a thousand of those families have resettled in Arizona and this is going to be their first Eid in their new homes, in their new country. Eid is a celebration which follows the Holy month of Ramadan. During Eid, families, neighbors and friends gather together to celebrate. Children normally receive small gifts from their loved ones, but due to the families’ recent resettlement in the US most of them do not have the means to carry out most of these traditions. 100% of your donations will go towards creating “goodie bags” for children that will bring a little bit of joy into their lives on their first Eid away from their homeland. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
A little bit about who I am and why this cause is important to me. My name is Maryam Rahman and I am resident of Arizona for the last 15 years. I have also arrived in the US as a refugee and know first hand how difficult it is to rebuild a life while being far from everything I’ve ever known. I have volunteered to assist with the incoming refugees from the Afghan crisis since August of 2021 and have met many of the families that have resettled in Arizona. These funds will be used solely to provide goodie bags for all the children that are resettled in Arizona hoping to bring a little of joy and light into their lives for their first Eid away from home. We will provide proof of distribution and expenditure.
