Morgan's Eight Week Kenyan Hospital Internship

On February 1st, Morgan Huff will be heading to Mombassa, Kenya for a two month volunteer/internship at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital. This exciting adventure is another step in her journey to becoming a Physician Assistant.

As you an imagine an undertaking of this scope is quite costly, which is why we are hoping to help Morgan with her expenses. Because this is a need based organization, Morgan is reponsible for covering all of the costs including her flight, room and board, uniforms and vaccinations. She is also hoping to be able to donate additional hospital supplies with these funds.

This is an exciting, once in a lifetime opportunity, allowing Morgan to experience four clinical roations in pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery and obstetrics and gynecolgy. And, while Coast General is a small hospital with just 750 beds, it serves over 700,000 in its primary area, and two million in the surrounding area. To say the least, Morgan will witness first hand the challenges of operating a health care system with extemely limited resources, while experiencing obstacles we cannot even imagine in the United States.

Morgan's true passion is medicine, and she will be such a gift to the patients in Mombassa, sharing what she has already learned working at both St. Lukes in Chesterfield, MO and in Murray, Kentucky
