My name is Amanda Sweeney, I am a volunteer at a community fridge in the South Bronx. Recently I decided to make it my mission to provide a similar service in Western Suffolk County. Due to the pandemic food insecurities are running rampant in under funded communities. 1 out of 7 Long Islanders are faced with food insecurities. Since May of this year, The Consulate of El Salvador located in Brentwood has been allowing us to use their space to provide the community with fresh produce, canned goods, and dry goods. We are seeking contributions to continue this service for our community members through the summer. The service is ran on the motto “Take what you need, leave what you can.” If anybody open to contributing please do! Every little bit helps provide food to our community. Food is a human right, standing in solidarity against food insecurities will make the future a better place. Thank you for the support and love. Lets keeping fighting against food insecurities together. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to contact us on Instagram @Eileensfreebodega
