Ein Parallel-Tandem für Lukas

Lukas ist 32 Jahr alt. Bei ihm liegt das Angelman-Syndrom vor. Das Syndrom zeigt sich in Form einer schweren

geistigen Behinderung. Menschen mit Angelman-Syndrom sprechen nicht, können nur sehr eingeschränkt gehen,

haben eine schwere Epilepsie, sind vollumfänglich inkontinent, haben keine Gefahreneinsicht etc.

Als Lukas 8 Jahre alt war, haben wir von der Firma Draisin das Tandem Kapitän Duo gekauft. Auf diesem Fahrrad

sitzt Lukas vorne und die Begleitung hinten. Wir haben das Lenkrad so eingestellt, dass Lukas nicht mitlenken kann.

Lukas liebt sein Fahrrad sehr und freut sich jedes Mal über Ausflüge damit.

Aufgrund der Epilepsie bekommt Lukas seit seinem 4 Lebensjahr das Antiepileptikum VALPROAT, welches mit schweren Nebenwirkungen verbunden ist. Eine davon ist ein schwerer Tremor (Zittern).

Im Sommer wäre Lukas beinahe, bedingt durch das Zittern, vom Fahrrad gefallen. Ein schwerer Unfall konnte nur dadurch verhindert werden, da der Begleiter nur im Schneckentempo um die Kurve gefahren ist und Lukas vor einem herunterrutschen vom Sattel hindern konnte. Wenn Lukas stürzt oder fällt, kann er sich leider nicht mit den Armen abstützen um den Sturz abfedern. Er fällt ungebremst mit dem Kopf auf den Boden.

Als Lukas das Fahrrad mit 8 Jahren bekommen hat, war die Nebenwirkung des Neuroleptikums noch nicht zu

merken und er saß sicher und stabil im Sattel. Über die Jahrzehnte ist diese Sicherheit leider verloren gegangen.

Das Fahrradfahren ist ein wichtiger Baustein im Leben von Lukas. Seit dem Beinahe-Unfall im Sommer sind wir nicht mehr gefahren, aus Sorge über einen erneuten Unfall - sehr zum Leid von Lukas.

Im Winter steht er jedes Mal, wenn wir in der Garage am Fahrrad vorbeikommen, an seinem Rad und rüttelt daran

und möchte fahren.

Das Tandem ermöglicht es Lukas unabhängig in seinem Viertel und darüber hinaus mobil zu sein und unabhängig von den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln "seine Lieblingsziele" zu erreichen.

Nach ausgiebiger Recherche haben wir ein Tandem gefunden, auf welchem Lukas nicht auf einem Sattel ohne Rückenstützte sitzt, sondern neben seinem Begleiter, beide Sitzen auf zwei "Stühlen" nebeneinander.

Das Ganze nennt sich Parallel-Tandem und trägt den Namen FUN2GO von der Firma Van Raam.

Das Fahrrad kostet leider 12.700,00 € und sprengt unser Budget. Hat man einen Menschen mit Behinderung in der

Familie hat, dann ist das aus finanzieller Sicht, ein Faß ohne Boden – bis ans Lebensende. Die zusätzlichen,

behinderungsbedingten Ausgaben, hören nie auf.

Lukas is 32 years old. He has Angelman syndrome. The syndrome manifests itself in the form of a severe mental disability. People with Angelman syndrome do not speak and can only walk to a very limited extent, have severe epilepsy, are completely incontinent, have no awareness of danger, etc.

When Lukas was 8 years old, we bought the Kapitän Duo tandem from the Draisin company. On this bike

Lukas sits at the front and his companion at the back. We adjusted the steering wheel so that Lukas can't steer.

Lukas loves his bike very much and is always happy to go out on it.

Due to his epilepsy, Lukas has been taking the anti-epileptic drug VALPROAT since he was 4 years old, which is associated with severe side effects. One of these is a severe tremor (shaking).

In the summer, Lukas almost fell off his bike due to the tremors. A serious accident was only prevented because the attendant only rode around the bend at a snail's pace and was able to stop Lukas from sliding off the saddle. Unfortunately, if Lukas falls or crashes, he cannot support himself with his arms to cushion the fall. He hits his head on the ground without braking.

When Lukas got the bike at the age of 8, the side effects of the neuroleptic were not yet noticeable

and he was safe and stable in the saddle. Unfortunately, this safety has been lost over the decades.

Cycling is an important part of Lukas' life.

Since the near-accident in the summer, we haven't ridden our bikes for fear of another accident - much to Lukas' distress.

In winter, every time we pass the bike in the garage, he stands by his bike and shakes itand wants to ride.

The tandem enables Lukas to be mobile in his neighborhood and beyond and to reach "his favorite destinations" independently of public transport.

After extensive research, we found a tandem on which Lukas does not sit on a saddle without back support, but next to his companion, both sitting on two "chairs" next to each other.The whole thing is called a parallel tandem and bears the name FUN2GO from the Van Raam company.

Unfortunately, the bike costs €12,700.00 and is beyond our budget. If you have a person with a disability in the family

family, this is a bottomless pit from a financial point of view - for the rest of your life. The additional,

expenses due to disability never stop.
