Robert “Raven” Kraft is known around the world for his personal achievements—running 8 miles every day along Miami Beach since 1975. Over 18,263 runs. 146,112 miles. But Raven’s biggest achievement is really his contribution to his community. For decades, he has generously dedicated thousands of hours of his time to helping people improve their lives through fitness with his nightly “Raven Runs”.

He’s been celebrated by ESPN and countless other media outlets, given his own personal lockbox on Miami Beach and even the famous “Keys to the City”. Now, in his darkest hour, he needs the city he’s helped so much, to help him keep his home.

Raven VS Goliath — an unfair fight that needs your help

Raven bought his condominium in 1988. A modest unit near Miami Beach. Now, bad actors are trying to force him out. If they succeed, Raven will be left without a home, and without a base from which to hold his nightly “Raven Runs” that so many of us in his community depend on.

For years, Raven and the other 6 tenants in his building paid a manageable $400 a month in maintenance fees. But in 2023 and 2024, after a change in management, Raven and his fellow residents have been hit with incomprehensibly exorbitant “repair fees” ranging from $24,000 last year, which he paid, to $40,000 this year. The justification for these fees is unclear. Nobody will answer Raven’s calls to explain them. There has been no significant work done on the building since last year’s gigantic payments, yet the escalating bills keep coming... But it gets much worse—Raven has been warned that if he doesn’t pay these bills immediately, the new management will foreclose on his home. He will lose everything.

As Raven’s community, we can’t help but ask—is this really about repairs? Or is this a familiar effort to force vulnerable residents like Raven out of their homes with impossibly high fees? An attempt by developers and their cronies to put their own profits over people?
