Honoring and Celebrating Matt MacLachlan

Matt MacLachlan enjoyed his 50 years of life to its fullest. He never passed up an opportunity to be with friends or his family - whether it was to laugh, play a board game, or watch UM win a national championship.

Matt was many things to many people: an engineer, a Wolverine, always on the move (skiing, hiking, swimming, playing basketball & tennis), and most importantly to him, a husband and Dad.

Matt fought bravely through complications from a planned heart surgery. Despite his incredible strength, his journey came to an end on March 3rd in Denver surrounded by his family.

As the heartbreaking reality of moving forward sinks in - we are incredibly thankful for the outpouring of support and questions of how people can help the family grieve or support the family that was everything to Matt.

In the spirit of the generosity and joy that Matt embodied, we’ve created this GoFundMe as a way for those who loved him to contribute to his surviving family: his wife Lindsay and 3 kids: Keller, Violet, & Elliott.

These funds will be used to offset expenses including the funeral, allowing time off work to grieve, as well as helping with education costs.

The family will host a Tribute to Matt MacLachlan on Thursday March 13 from 3:30pm - 7pm at Wynkoop Brewery in downtown Denver (1634 18th St, Denver, CO 80202) on the 2nd floor. Light food & drinks will be served. Speaking will begin at 5pm. Kids are encouraged to attend.

The family does not want flowers sent and there will not be a memorial fund - so if you'd like to contribute or send something - please donate here as it will cover any needs the family may have-this is the easiest/most efficient way for the family to receive support. Ensuring his kids have the best education possible was one of Matt's primary focuses - these funds will hopefully allow for Violet & Elliott to receive some college funding to keep Matt's education legacy alive.
