HELP BOGIE FIGHT KIDNEY FAILURE DUE TO PNEUMONIA
Our dear friend, Donald Bogie (the proverbial West Seattle Godfather and face of the Maha Lounge), needs our help.
Recently, Bogie has suffered kidney failure as a result of symptomatic complications stemming from a bout of pneumonia. He has been receiving exceptional care at Swedish Medical Center and is currently undergoing dialysis treatment. Even in the best case scenario, Bogie has a long, difficult recovery ahead.
As anyone who knows Bogie will attest, he is one of the strongest people you’ll ever know and he is bound to defy every odd put before him. Recovery is a letter of when, not if.
You’ll also know that Bogie and his wife Sheryl are both extremely private people who will feel very uncomfortable with the caring attention this will bring. At the request of the family, we are directing people to refrain from texting, calling or DMing either Don or Sheryl during this challenging time. No matter how well intentioned or how close you know you are with either of them, we ask that you please respect their privacy by limiting your communications (for now) to posting comments on this GoFundMe page.
We will be posting weekly updates on Bogie’s progress through GoFundMe and social media, so everyone will be kept in the loop.
We are also putting together a team for weekly visits of able bodied volunteers to the Bogie home to do yard work, trash runs, meal prep, chore runs, and whatever physically demanding work that can support the family during their period of recovery.
Additionally, other actions are being put into place to further support the Bogies. More details will be shared very soon.
A great big thank you ahead of time to everyone for the support that is sure to come. Please know that every little bit does help. Please donate today in person at the Maha Lounge or via this GoFundMe page.
We love you, Bogie and Sheryl.
