Ekta's Mission Trip Pledge

For my 25th birthday, I want to ask all my friends and family for one thing: nothing. What I want is for any contribution that you would have put towards my birthday to go towards charity. For my birthday, I pledge to raise$1250 for a mission trip that I will be participating in shortly after I turn 25 years old on January 13, 2017.

I will be serving with The Outreach for World Hope , a non-profit organization, whose mission is to improve the quality of life of the world’s poor by providing humanitarian aid, hope, and compassion. The team will be serving from  January 26-31st 2017 in the Chiquimula region of eastern Guatemala, known as “The Dry Corridor.” This region is in chronic shortage of rainfall leading to devastating droughts and famine that result in alarmingly high child mortality rates due to end stage starvation.

During this mission trip, we will be volunteering to:

- Identify severely malnourished children to provide nutritional rehabilitation
- Provide medical care to populations living in isolated mountain villages
- Distribute basic life necessities: food, stove tops, clothing, shoes, toys, and medical supplies
- Empower local community residents through education and provide self-sustainable tools to pave the pathway out of poverty
