Anne's Shattered Bone (dog attack)
Donation protected
Anne Walker is 75 year old retired former cowgirl and a dog lover. Many of us got to know her through her job at the pet boutique, and as my dog training student with her corgis. Gentle, funny, and she has many wild stories to tell. She was just recovering from her recent knee replacement.
On Sunday, April 10th, Anne was attacked by a very large bully breed mix at the local dog park parking lot (Heather Farm in Walnut Creek, CA). There was not even a warning growl when this dog (who was on-leash) stared at her for a second, then lunged at her neck and chest. Anne, being crippled from her knee surgery already, fell. This shattered the bone and the artificial insert that was put in from her previous hip replacement. Luckily, her little corgi, Sticky, was still inside the small dog park with other people at the time of attack, otherwise she would have been harmed as well. Currently she's in the urgent care at the John Muir hospital. Surgeons aren't sure if she can take another surgerie which might mean that she can lose her life, considering her age and other medical condition. Whether it'll be a surgery then rehab or rehab only, this will take 3-4 months for her to even walk around, and she is in excruciating pain.
The attacker dog's owner left Anne on the ground. She also claimed this 75 year old lifetime dog lover "harassed" her dog. As her friend and a dog trainer, I know that is not even possible. The current case is under investigation through the animal control cops. Meanwhile, Anne can't pay for all the medical deductables she will be charged. She lives in a senior trailer park and lives on social security as her sole income.
100% of the donation goes straight to Anne. Please, if we all chipped in just a few dollars, she can at least pay for some of the mega medical expenses coming to her. Thank you so much for reading this!
