¡Estamos creando un pequeño bosque de 200 m cuadrados justo aquí en el centro de Jávea! Esta iniciativa con conciencia ecológica tiene como objetivo transformar el espacio en un refugio exuberante y próspero para la biodiversidad, la naturaleza y el bienestar comunitario.

¿Cuáles son los beneficios de un bosque diminuto?

Para hacer realidad esta visión, ¡necesitamos su apoyo! Sus generosas donaciones nos ayudarán a comprar los materiales y el conocimiento que necesitamos para que nuestro primer Tiny Forest en Jávea sea un éxito. Tu aportación, ya sea de 10€, 25€, 50€, 100€, 1.000€ o más, tiene un impacto significativo. Juntos podemos sembrar las semillas de un cambio positivo y cultivar un espacio que beneficie tanto a la naturaleza como a nuestra comunidad.

¿En qué se gastará el dinero?

️ 1. Terreno: No, ya hemos asegurado el terreno de 270 m cuadrados gratis gracias a Hans y Oscar en La Huerta.

2. Diseño forestal: Estamos trabajando con la mundialmente reconocida técnica Miyawaki. El objetivo es que el bosque crezca rápidamente, proporcione hábitat para aves e insectos, así como sombra y protección contra el viento para los humanos. También hemos decidido añadir un estanque al diseño, que debería atraer aún más insectos, pájaros y vida silvestre.

3. Preparación del suelo: Para que los árboles tengan alguna posibilidad de sobrevivir a los veranos secos, necesitaremos darle un poco de vida al suelo. Era tierra agrícola degradada antes de que se convirtiera en huerto hace unos años. El suelo es mayoritariamente arcilloso con algo de arena y sin mucha materia orgánica. Agregaremos abono local, estiércol de caballo, biocarbón y mantillo, y colaboraremos con un experto en fermentación para desarrollar fertilizantes orgánicos líquidos que poblarán el microbioma del suelo.

4. Equipo: Si bien tenemos acceso a herramientas de nuestro jardín comunitario, ¡necesitaremos las armas grandes para este proyecto! Un tractor y un subsolador para excavar el suelo compactado y mezclarlo con materia orgánica, una trituradora para triturar todos los desechos del paisaje que hemos estado desviando del vertedero,

5. Árboles, plantas y semillas: los bosques de Miyawaki se ocupan de capas. Plantaremos una amplia gama de árboles, arbustos, plantas medicinales y especies con flores locales. Robles, higos y bayas, solo por nombrar algunos, que deleitarán tu paladar.

6. Riego: El agua es muy valiosa en esta área, por eso queremos asegurarnos de tener un sistema de riego eficiente que no desperdicie ni una gota. Para las etapas iniciales, necesitaremos un sistema de aspersores oscilantes, que se reemplazará con riego por goteo después del establecimiento.

6. Dos años de mantenimiento: El desarrollo del bosque depende en gran medida del manejo básico durante los primeros dos o tres años: deshierbe, aplicación de mantillo, estacas y algo de poda.

7. Día de educación comunitaria: Abrimos la jornada de siembra a la comunidad, donde también compartiremos los detalles de la técnica Miyawaki. Aprenderemos la teoría mientras preparamos el suelo y plantamos semillas y árboles. Queremos que este sea un evento basado en donaciones para que cualquier persona de la comunidad pueda asistir. Hello wonderful supporters!

We're creating a 200m square tiny forest right here in the centre of Javea! This eco-conscious initiative aims to transform the space into a lush, thriving haven for biodiversity, nature, and community well-being.

To bring this vision to life, we need your support! Your generous donations will help us purchase the materials and knowledge we need to make our first Tiny Forest in Javea a success. Your contribution, whether it’s €10, €25, €50, €100, €1,000 or more, makes a significant impact. Together, we can sow the seeds of positive change and cultivate a space that benefits both nature and our community.

What will the money be spent on?

️️ 1. Land: Nope, we have already secured the 270m squared plot for free thanks to Hans and Oscar at The Huerta.

2. Forest design: We are working with the world-renowned Miyawaki technique. The goal is for the forest to grow fast, provide habitat for birds and insects, as well as shade and windbreak for humans. We have also decided to add a pond to the design - which should attract even more insects, birds, and wildlife.

3. Soil prep: For the trees to have any chance to survive the dry summers, we'll need to give the soil a bit of life. It was degraded agricultural land before it was converted to an orchard a few years ago. The soil is mostly clay with some sand, and without much organic matter. We'll be adding local compost, horse manure, biochar, and mulch, and we'll be collaborating with a fermentation expert to develop organic liquid fertilizer that will populate the microbiome of the soil.

4. Equipment: While we do have access to tools from our community garden, we'll be needing the big guns for this project! A tractor and subsoiler to dig up the compacted soil and mix in organic matter, a chipper to mulch all of the landscape waste we've been diverting from the landfill,

5. Trees, plants and seeds: Miyawaki forests deals with layers. We'll be planting a wide range of local trees, shrubs, medicinal plants, flowering species. Oaks, figs and berries just to name a few to get your taste buds watering.

6. Irrigation: Water is precious in this area, so we want to make sure we have an efficient irrigation system that doesn't waste a drop. For the initial stages, we'll need a wobbler sprinkler system, to be replaced with drip irrigation after establishment.

6. Two years of maintenance: The development of the forest is heavily dependent on basic management in the first two-three years - weeding, mulching, staking, some pruning.

7. Community education day: We are opening the planting day to the community, where we will also share the details of the Miyawaki technique. We will learning the theory while also prepping the soil and planting seeds and trees. We want this to be a donation-based event so anyone in the community can attend.
