Elda, Yaslin, and Adair

Hi My name is Elda Grijalva, I have lived in Maui for the last 22 years. I have 3 kids and 9 grandchildren. On August 8th my daughter Yaslin (25 years old), my Adair (6 years old) and I were living together. At the time of the fire I was working at Spinakers Wainee Lahaina and I had to jump from the second floor of a house I was cleaning on front street to save my life. I couldn't get out. My mother had passed away four years ago. I prayed and said to my mother that I would be joining her soon. I thanked God for my 47 years of life and I was ready to accept that this was the end. I asked for forgiveness and I was ready to accept my fate. I broke down crying, and I had a moment where I felt God and my mother were guiding me . I covered myself with a wet towel and I ran and ran till I found the exit. I fell to the first floor and twisted my ankle and could not stand up. There was a fence between Front street apartments and the church. I started to kick the fence until it caved in and ran past to get to Front street where there were explosions and fire. I kept running and was hit in the head by a palm tree leaf. I finally reached the park. I remembered I had a friend that lived nearby so I ran to her place and when I got there I collapsed to my knees. My friend helped me and I was in shock. When I was able to go come to my senses my friend and I escaped in her truck. After I fell, I went to the hospital and they found a tumor. I submitted myself to surgery on November 7th to remove the tumor. Unfortunately I lost my job due to the fires. My goal is to get back to work. My daughter and I are striving to get back on our feet. We are doing all we can to get by and keep up with paying our bills. Any help is greatly appreciated. Aloha
