Help Guy as FT Caregiver, for Elderly Parents in their home;
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Hearts,
I hope this message finds you well. Today, I'm reaching out to share a story of compassion and resilience, and to ask for your support in a time of great need.
My name is Daphne, and I’ve known my friend Guy Paquette for over 5 decades. We grew up together, shared joys, and supported each other through life’s challenges. Today, I'm reaching out to you on behalf of Guy, who needs our help to ensure his elderly parents, Mother at age 91 and Father at age 93, can stay together in their own home.
Guy has devoted himself to being the primary caregiver for his parents, fulfilling their heartfelt wish to remain in familiar surroundings as they age. To do so, he has made the difficult decision to leave his full-time job, sacrificing his income to provide the round-the-clock care his parents require.
The past few years have been especially tough for Guy and his family. The closure of their family business, which had been their livelihood for three decades, left them grappling with financial uncertainty. Now, with Guy as the sole caregiver and without a stable income, they face mounting challenges to make ends meet.
Having experienced the demands of caregiving firsthand, I understand the emotional and financial toll it can take. It's a labor of love that often goes unrecognized and unsupported, particularly for those like Guy, who step up to care for family members without formal training or financial assistance.
Life's challenges can sometimes feel deeply unjust. After dedicating four decades to hard work and self-sufficiency, facing the loss of income and autonomy becomes a stark reality when one prioritizes the moral imperative of caring for aging parents.
"In Canada, the burden falls heavily on individuals who take on this responsibility, with only one province—Nova Scotia—offering financial assistance to siblings who become primary caregivers for their parents.”
The healthcare system largely recognizes only formally trained and paid caregivers, leaving those who prioritize the care of their own parents with minimal support.
Tax credits, though offered, hold little value for individuals without a steady income. Despite a lifetime of diligent work and the depletion of personal savings in the noble pursuit of caregiving, financial aid remains elusive for these dedicated individuals.
That's why I'm reaching out to you today. Guy needs our support to ensure his parents receive the care they deserve and can remain in the comfort of their own home. Your donation will provide essential financial assistance to cover medical expenses, daily living costs, and other necessities that have become increasingly difficult to afford.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of Guy and his family. Your generosity will not only alleviate their financial burden but also show them that they are not alone in this journey. Let's rally together and give back to someone who has given so much to his loved ones.
"Every contribution, regardless of size, makes a meaningful difference. No donation is too small; every bit of support is deeply appreciated and helps immensely."
Thank you for considering this cause close to my heart. Your kindness and support mean the world to Guy and his family.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and compassion.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Daphne
