Elderly Woman in Oxford Needs your Help!
Donation protected
I know so many in our community have been tragically affected by the catastrophic flooding. A very elderly woman who just lost her husband has been tragically affected as well. Her daughter, Sue, and I are teachers that work in the same school in Oxford, CT. She is a lifelong resident of Oxford and has lived in this house her entire adult life. She is in a wheelchair and cannot take care of herself. On top of that, this is her home in the above picture. She had water in her basement up to the ceiling and she no longer has a driveway or a front yard. Her shed and car were hanging over the edge of the raging river that was not there 24 hours earlier. If you step out her front door, you would almost fall directly over the cliff into the water. She has no flood insurance and little money. Her house may even be condemned and she has many financial obligations. Mrs. Purcella was a longtime probate clerk in Oxford and was an active volunteer for many organizations. She is a very proud woman, so asking for help is hard for her. If you could help, I would appreciate it so much. Thank you for anything at all you can do! Your donations will help her with all of the upcoming expenses and possible relocation if her home is condemned on top of everything else.
