Eldon Eber: Cherished Family Man and Helper
Donation protected
Eldon Harold Eber, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2025, at the age of 67. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was a graduate of Brother Martin High School (Class of 1975) and a graduate of Charity Hospital School of Radiology. Eldon lived much of his adult life in Slidell, Louisiana, where he made lasting memories with his family and friends.
Eldon was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Sr., and his mother, Betty. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Fremin Eber; daughters, Elizabeth, Malorie, and Ginny (Matthew Solomon); sister, Carole (Fritz Hoth); and grandchildren, Peyton, Jake, and Annabelle. He is also survived by many family members and friends who he held very dear to his heart. His family was the center of his world, and he was a proud and devoted father and grandfather.
For 40 years, Eldon worked in radiology, where he was known for his professionalism and dedication to the medical field. This was a career he truly enjoyed with colleagues whom he viewed as his family. His passion for science and technology extended beyond his career and into his personal life, where he was an avid fan of science fiction, notably Star Trek and Firefly. Eldon’s curiosity and love for discovery were evident in everything he did.
A man with a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor, Eldon found joy in the simple things—such as spending time in antique stores and flea markets, always on the lookout for unique memorabilia that reflected his love for history and nostalgia. He was always helping others in need, oftentimes putting others above himself. When asked why he always stopped any time he saw someone on the side of the road, he said, “It’s just what you do.” He was the true embodiment of Mr. Rogers' words: “Always look for the helpers.” Even before marrying his wife, Michelle, he had always treated her daughter, Ginny, as his own, eventually adopting her in 2007. He said it was one of the happiest days of his life.
Eldon’s ability to find light in any dark situation, along with his constant humor and wisdom, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to help cover Eldon’s funeral expenses.
