Jòpan Elementary School in Guimaca, Honduras

Hello, my name is Gabrielle and I am fundraising for school supplies for the elementary school in Guimaca. I have had the privilege to teach English lessons here for the last two summers, and this year I am hosting a fundraiser to help make these teachers' and students' lives a little better.

At this school in Guimaca, the teachers operate on no budget, and some months on no salary. During COVID-19 the teachers were not paid, but they showed up to teach every day because of their dedication to their students. The students share textbooks because there are not enough. They each have one notebook that contains work and notes for every subject. There are no erasers for the whiteboard and each teacher has just two dry-erase markers. The children have no crayons, colored pencils, or markers. As you can see in the picture, not every student has a uniform.

The teachers at this school will continue teaching with or without school supplies, but as we all know, it makes learning easier when you have the tools to do so! Five dollars goes a long way in Honduras. This is not an easy place to give or receive an education, and a safe and supported place to learn is a huge blessing in these students' lives.
