Elena Marie Smith: Honoring an Incredible Soul
Donation protected
My name is Rachel, and I am fundraising for the memorial of my cousin, Elena Marie Smith. Elena was unexpectedly found unconscious in the early morning of June 5th. Paramedics were able to revive her and placed her on a breathing machine, where she was in stable but critical condition. After a CT scan and several other tests, doctors found no brain activity, and we faced the heart-wrenching decision to remove life support. On Friday, June 7th, at 4:16 PM, surrounded by her loved ones, Elena went home to be with the Lord.
Elena was born with Rett Syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects motor coordination, language, and intellect, and can cause seizures and sleep difficulties. Despite these challenges, Elena could do more than most with her condition. Elena could sing, dance, Pray, communicate with others, count to ten, name different colors, and so much more.
Elena was raised by her grandmother Jo Marie, and she is carried by her grandmother, her mother Jolene, her brother August, her many cousins, and a close-knit family who cherished her deeply. Elena graduated high school with the class of 2021, she was 24 years young and would have turned 25 on August 3rd. Elena was a radiant light in our lives. She found joy in the simplest things and brought immense happiness to those around her.
We are raising funds to honor Elena's memory and cover the costs of her memorial. Any support you can provide will be deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping us celebrate the life of a truly special person. Rest In Heaven LuLu <3
