Elena & Sam Shaw

Hi everyone, my name is Alexandra Turnbull. My husband Jake and I are starting this GoFundMe for our sister Elena and her husband Sam.

You may have seen on the news that early on Christmas Eve, the historic family home in Gardiner that Elena and Sam had been living in burned down after a generator caught fire. The generator was running during the intense storm that knocked out power throughout much of the state including in Gardiner at Elena and Sam's.

The fire moved through the 1814 house rapidly. Sam and Elena had time to get out wearing pajamas, no shoes, literally just their phones with them to call 911. Sam sustained second-degree burns and was ambulanced to Maine General, then Maine Medical Center, for treatment. Their beloved dog Raleigh died in the fire.

Elena and Sam lost everything: their wallets, their car keys, their furniture, and everything in between. It takes a village to come together so we are asking our community to donate any amount. They've been a village for many of you and now we need to support them.
