Elena's Transition Fund
My name is Elena, Hi there.
I'll try to be quick about this because I've tried several times in the past, but it seems like many people are starting to treat the critical lack of support felt by Black Trans Women and Trans Women of Color with the respect that our situations require.
Maybe now is finally my opportunity, and hopefully an opportunity for all of us.
I have been out as trans for 7 or 8 years now. The biggest and seemingly insurmountable hurdle to my transition is Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS). FFS is actual a catch-all for for any type of facial/cranial surgery meant to remove or reduce the effects of experiencing a testosterone induced puberty.
It's incredibly expensive and rarely covered by insurance. Most of the women I know of who were capable of getting FFS are white, upper middle class, or just filthy stinking rich.
I had all but given up when I saw that there was a surge of donations being made to Black Trans Women's GFMs. I am hoping to also be able to share in that wealth and appreciate anyone who wants to help me get the care that I need.
