To Anyone Who Can Help
My name is Andrew Marchioli at the age of three years old I was diagnosed with a Acute Lymphatic Leukemia .
I was left disabled from my chemotherapy treatments. I have suffered four strokes from the treatment and I am now partially paralyzed on my right arm and partially paralyzed on both legs. My ability to walk has been severely compromised. Simple tasks we take for granted everyday are a struggle for me.
My grandmother passed away a few years ago at the age of 93 years. My parents purchased the home we lived in from my family members.
The house was renovated and turned from a mother and daughter home to a single family two story home. This gave me my own personal living space on the second floor.
My parents made this decision to do this renovation on the commitment of help from New York State who offered to put an elevator in for me. The elevator was so I could move freely from my space to the first floor. I could finally have some independence in my life which would have been a real life changer for me. I could stay at home where I want to be. I could go outside and do things normal people take for granted.
NY state sent their representatives as well as their architect to start the process. I was so excited. Then without notice the state backed out of their offer and declined to put in the elevator for me. This was devastating to me. How could I now deal with a staircase on a daily basis and have the chance of falling everyday.
I walk with leg braces and have no use of my right arm and a staircase is extremely dangerous for me. So here I am asking for any help you could possibly give. This is a very stressful situation for
me and my family. Unfortunately we do not have the money to install the elevator ourselves and we are out of federal and state options. We are determined to get this elevator and with your help I will be able to move freely in my home
