Eley Moua's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My name is Nzong, and I am fundraising for my husband, Eley Moua. On Friday, July 7, he was taken to the ER due to a necrotizing soft tissue infection on his left ankle. This type of infection is a flesh-eating disease in which bacteria that enters through a break in the skin destroys tissue underneath. The only way to save his life was to amputate his leg below the knee because his leg tissues were no longer salvageable. The surgeon informed us that the infection had become so severe, that if we had waited one more day, they would not have been able to save his life. The surgeon spent the majority of the time stabilizing his body so that they could perform the procedure. A second procedure was performed a week later to continue cleaning out the infection and close up his wound. During his stay at the hospital, he has survived 4 cardiac arrests, alerting all of us to an even bigger concern, his heart.
Eley is diabetic, has kidney disease and is receiving dialysis 4 days a week, and has heart failure. His heart is currently functioning at 20%. Due to his health conditions, he has been denied kidney and heart transplant, and is living each day due to God’s grace. The hospital has recently given him a unit that functions as a pacemaker and a defibrillator to assist his heart function. We are currently awaiting a decision on whether he will benefit from an open heart bypass surgery. He has been discharged to a skilled nursing facility for physical therapy, and will remain there until a decision has been made about his heart surgery.
Despite all the health obstacles he has faced within the past 20 years, he has been committed to using every opportunity the Lord has provided to serve Him and to serve the church. He has served within the youth, worship, and Young Couples ministries. He served as a Youth Pastor and Associates Pastor. His love for the youth went beyond the church. He worked as a Crisis Counselor for numerous school districts for over 15 years with students who were at risk and who had emotional trauma. He even had the opportunity to work as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist working with children, teenagers, and adults who had autism and aspergers. His passion and desire has always been to honor the Lord through his ministry and lifestyle. Even now, it is our hope and prayer that the Lord will continue to use his life as a living testimony and ministry to others.
As his wife, I am requesting financial support to help with medical expenses such as medications, necessary equipment, and daily living supplies. This situation happened very suddenly this summer, and without support, I will not be able to give him the proper care he will need. Please give as according to what the Lord has laid upon your heart, and continue to pray for God's will, healing, strength, peace, and comfort as we go through this challenging time in our lives.
