Elgie Khalil Johnson’s Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
This go fund me account is set up help the family of Elgie Khalil Johnson as we attempt to raise money to give him a decent funeral. Khalil touched the lives of a who came in contact with him. To know him was to love him♥️
Khalil was diagnosed with severe kidney failure back in 1998. He was a dedicated dialysis patient for over ten years. Over the years his body started to break down as his other organs had to fight harder in order to maintain. As his sister and closest friend... I saw his body getting weaker as he was tired, I saw it in his eyes but he was a fighter and never wanted to show weakness.
He was tired of going to dialysis 4 times a week, tired of being cut on as he had multiple ports to initiate the dialysis treatments (ports are small machine like parts that they cut you open and attach yo the veins so the treatments won’t wear the vein out) he had about four different ones as his veins wore out over time. Khalil was tired... he couldn’t eat what he wanted, he was very limited to the amount he could drink which was like 12 oz a day. About 4 years ago he lost the ability to urinate which is why his dialysis treatments were crucial.
Khalil was finally blessed with a kidney a couple months ago and last week he was so excited because had gotten an X-ray to determine the placement for the new kidney. Unfortunately God had different plans.
Khalil took his last breath on his own on April 17,2018 in which he was rushed to the hospital and was hurriedly placed on a life support machine that was breathing for him which in turn gave him a heartbeat. However there was a 50 minute gap between when he collapsed, had gotten to the hospital and they were able to get his heart beating again. Because of this he had no oxygen to his brain for a long period of time... which in turn exhaust/ expire the brain and its function. My family was there every step of the way and I can assure you that the doctors and nurses did everything in their power to help keep him alive! He fought hard as he showed signs of trying to breathe on his own with the support of the oxygen tank, which later expired as well.
Khalil’s was pronounced deceased on April 20,2019 at 1:41 pm.
After he found out that he was sick, he was never able to get life insurance because he had a life threatening sickness. With that being said I’m asking any one that is able to help my family with the funeral expenses as even the smallest donations will help! Thank you all in advance... signed his mother Bonnie Grissom, his Sister Khadidrah Grissom and his long time girlfriend Danielle ❤️
