My family had an unfortunate emergency with my younger sister. We took her to the local hospital because she was vomiting. Due to the severity of her condition she had to be transported by ambulance to a children hospital with specialized pediatricians. She is 11 years old and has been diagnosed with SMA syndrome. SMA syndrome is a rare digestive condition that occurs when the part of the small intestine that connects to the stomach is pinched by two arteries. This has caused her to constantly vomit because of a blockage of the intestine. This has resulted in a nose to stomach tube to drain the fluid - which now has been removed. She currently has a feeding tube in place and will have it for the next 6-8 weeks to give her nutrients to see if her body can create the fat it needs to remove the blockage. She will have to stay at the hospital until her condition improves. We are praying this is the case otherwise surgery will be needed.
The children's hospital where she is receiving treatment is 3+ hours away from our home and money is very tight. Donations will help go towards the cost of travel to the hospital, food, a place to stay and medical bills. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and will help support us, thank you.
