Elias Madsen

Hello, my name is Melanie Alexandrine Madsen. I'm the Great Aunt of a special little boy named Elias Madsen, my Grand Nephew! who was born on September 4, 2022, to Olivia and Truman Madsen. Elias is the first child of this darling couple.

He is such a beautiful, perfect boy. Yet, he was born with a congenital disability that requires surgery scheduled on December 7th, 2022, to repair a perineal fistula, a type of anorectal malformation. He has had to undergo many tests to prepare for the surgery and multiple daily procedures to stretch the area, which has been very painful for Elias. Still, he's endured it all with such sweetness and patience. He almost always smiles and tries to laugh behind big, painful tears.

We are so grateful that additional acute problems often associated with this difficulty do not seem to be present. We are hopeful that the surgery will go well and that no complications will develop.

Elias's parents are blessed to have insurance coverage, but many expenses will not be covered, and they have a high deductible. They have been married less than two years and are still finding their way in life together and establishing careers.
