To the cherished community of family, friends, and well-wishers,
10/27/23 - There are moments in life when words seem to fall short, and this is undoubtedly one of them. In the face of overwhelming grief and sorrow, it is your collective kindness, love, and support that have been our guiding light.
To everyone who has reached out with comforting words, messages of condolences, and loving memories of Moses, we express our heartfelt gratitude. Your words have been a soothing balm for our aching hearts, reminding us that we are not alone in our grief.
For those who generously donated, be it in kind, funds, or time, know that your gestures have greatly eased the burdens of this difficult time. Your contributions have not only helped with the logistics but have also been a testament to the profound impact Moses had on so many lives.
To everyone who attended the Celebration of Life services, thank you for coming together to remember and honor the vibrant spirit of Moses. The gathering was a beautiful testament to the legacy he leaves behind and the multitude of lives he touched.
While our hearts ache with the physical absence of Moses, we find solace in the belief that he is now in a place free from pain, wrapped in eternal peace, and in the embrace of our heavenly father. The faith that he is watching over us, just as he always did on Earth, provides immeasurable comfort.
May we continue to draw strength from one another and the cherished memories we hold of Moses. As we journey forward, let us keep his spirit alive by embodying the love, kindness, and grace that he so effortlessly exuded.
Thank you, from the depths of our hearts, for standing beside us during this trying time.
With immense gratitude and love,
The Olvera Family

Dear Friends and Supporters,
My little brother was called up to heaven today to join our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and our mother, Lilly. I was honored to be his big brother for the 52 years of his life. He had more friends than I can count or thank. Additionally, I have to thank all the many medical doctors, nurses and staff at St. Luke’s Medical Center that took care of Moses so heroically. Please keep my family in your prayers. We will miss Moses’ gregarious laughter and his infectious smile but know that the tears we shed moving forward are tears of happiness because we know that he has a place in heaven. On behalf of myself and my family, we want to thank everyone that has continued to support the fundraising cause to offset the medical bills for 19 days in ICU that will continue to come in since Moses was not insured. Please keep our family in prayer and thank you for your continued contributions. I will provide funeral information as soon as confirmed.
Warm regards,
The Olvera Family
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Another update for everyone, 09/25/23. This morning the doctors let us know that they have had to increase Moses medications--his infections are not getting better and they have placed him on forced oxygen again. Please continue to pray Moses. We appreciate, all your prays, donations and kind words.
Warm regards,
The Olvera Family
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Another update for you. Yesterday, 9/22/23 I had an opportunity to share with Moses all the names of the generous friends, colleagues, family and others who have contributed to his fund. As I read the names one by one, I could see his expressions of both surprise and overwhelming joy of the support. I personally thank you on behalf of our family and ask that you continue to share his story in your own personal way. We encourage those that are not able to make financial contributions, to donate blood and plasma on Moses’ behalf.
Warm regards,
The Olvera Family
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Today 9/22/23, We're overwhelmed with gratitude for your steadfast support in Moses' journey to recovery. Yesterday marked a hopeful milestone—less reliance on oxygen and reduced blood pressure medication. The diligent nurses are encouraging him to speak, and we're hopeful for heart-to-heart conversations soon. Moses embodies strength and resilience. Please keep the prayers coming and continue sharing his story.
Warmly,
The Olvera Family
Dear Supporters,
Yesterday September 20, 2023 brought a glimmer of hope and warmth. Moses had a good day - he was able to move his arms and reached out for many heartfelt handholds. His "I Love You's" echoed in our hearts, and those warm smiles were a balm to our spirits. We remain grateful for your continued support, thoughts and prayers.
With immense gratitude,
The Olvera Family
In life, we are often privileged to meet souls who leave an indelible mark on our hearts. For many, my brother Moses is that person. His unwavering spirit, even in the face of adversity, has been an inspiration to me and countless others. Today, I reach out, not just as his older brother but as a voice for someone who has been a beacon of light for many. Today, I find myself recounting these moments, thinking of my younger brother, Moses. His infectious laugh, his wisdom, and his undying spirit have been the cornerstones of our family, especially after we lost our beloved mother, Lilly, five years ago.
Lilly, a beacon of strength and love, left us suddenly at the age of 70, taken by the flu. Her absence created an irreplaceable void in our hearts. Moses, ever the rock, shouldered his grief, ensuring our family felt Lilly's love and warmth through him. He channeled his pain into creating beautiful memories for his young son, Alex, ensuring that his grandmother's legacy lived on.
Today, as I pen down these words, Moses lies in intensive care, surrounded by a labyrinth of tubes and machines that are both a testament to his fight for life and a stark reminder of the fragility of it. Each beep, each hum resonates with the hope that he will pull through, that he will once again be the strong, joyous figure Alex looks up to with his infectious laugh.
The medical team - the dedicated doctors, compassionate nurses, and tireless assistants - have been nothing short of miraculous. We are eternally grateful for their efforts, working round the clock, ensuring Moses stands a fighting chance against the mounting odds.
Yet, with all their expertise and dedication, the financial weight of Moses's medical journey and lapse of health insurance is a burden we're struggling to bear. He dedicated his summers, year after year, managing the Memorial Forest Club, orchestrating joy for families, ensuring children like Alex had unforgettable memories. Today, we ask this community to come together for him.
If you've ever felt the warmth of Moses's smile or the comfort of his words, or if the story of a family clinging onto hope tugs at your heartstrings, we humbly request your support. Any contribution will directly aid with the mounting financial expenses related to Moses's fight against the dire circumstances he's in.
But we understand that times are tough for everyone. If a financial contribution isn’t feasible, please share Moses's story with others. Moreover, consider making a life-saving blood or plasma donation. Such gestures resonate beyond the immediate need, creating a ripple effect of goodwill and hope.
Life has shown us that together, as a community, we can overcome even the toughest challenges. Let's rally behind Moses and ensure he isn't fighting this battle alone.
For the sake of fond summer memories, for the legacy of our dear mother Lilly, and for a son's hope to see his father strong and healthy again, let’s stand united for Moses.
