Elias Underhill-Eagle Scout Project Izzy's Garden

My name is Elias Underhill and I’m raising money for my Eagle Scout project, Izzy’s Garden.

Izzy Mattocks was a student at Durbin Elementary who passed away in 2021 from Neuroblastoma. My project at the new Deer Creek Elementary where Durbin Elementary students now attend will be an ADA-accessible garden filled with benches and native pollinators for students to have a quiet place to sit, reflect, and relax. The garden will attract butterflies, a favorite of Izzy’s, and other pollinators. There will be a large stone in the center of the garden with a plaque honoring Izzy’s memory.

After hearing the impact Izzy had on the staff and students at Durbin Elementary I am honored to create this garden in Izzy’s memory and I would appreciate your support.

A little about me: I am a Life Scout with Troop 105 in Noblesville, Indiana and have completed 27 merit badges. I am currently the Troop Guide and have served in various leadership roles in my troop including, Patrol Leader, Outdoor Ethics Guide, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. Along with attending summer camp every year of my Scouting career and attending National Youth Leadership Training. I have completed treks at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Northern Tier/Okpik (winter adventure), in Minnesota and helped plan my troop's high adventure trip to Isle Royale, Michigan.

Any funds above my goal will be used to commission a sculpture, for the garden, from a local artist and to donate back to Deer Creek Elementary to create other lasting projects.
