Second Chance Hope Group has two missions: Saving Lives and Saving Lives. Our organization recognizes that the current system for reducing DWIs has been ineffective, leading us to adopt a commonsense approach. We firmly believe that it is crucial to address the issue of drunk driving from a harm reduction perspective. Instead of solely focusing on punishment and curing an addition, we aim to implement strategies that prioritize prevention, education, and support. By providing resources, awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation programs, we strive to reduce the devastating consequences that drunk driving inflicts on individuals, families, and communities. Our goal is to create a safer environment and offer a second chance to those struggling with alcohol-related issues while ultimately saving lives. This initiative aims to address the issue of drunk driving by providing a practical and safe alternative for individuals who have been convicted of driving under the influence (DUI). No one is addicted to driving, they are addicted to alcohol. Upon their release from prison, these individuals are given gift cards, specifically the $100 Uber Card, which can arrange transportation services through the Uber app. By offering this option, we are making it easier for them to make responsible choices and avoid the risks associated with driving while intoxicated. In other words, “We make it easy for them to not drive drunk.
In addition to providing a safe alternative to driving under the influence, the $100 Uber Card offers flexibility and peace of mind. With the Uber app, individuals can conveniently request a ride with just a few taps on their smartphone, making it incredibly convenient for those who have consumed alcohol and may not be in a condition to navigate public transportation or find a taxi. The card also ensures that individuals can get home safely, even if they are in an unfamiliar area or during late hours when other transportation options may be limited. Overall, the $100 Uber Card provides a reliable and convenient mode of transportation that promotes responsible drinking and eliminates the risks associated with impaired driving and reduces the harm that drunk driving causes.
The Uber card initiative offers a convenient and safe transportation option for couples or groups attending parties or events where alcohol will be consumed. By using the Uber card, they can easily arrange for a ride to and from the event, eliminating the need for a designated driver. This promotes responsible drinking, as individuals can enjoy themselves without having to worry about driving under the influence. Additionally, it significantly reduces the risk of accidents caused by impaired driving, ensuring the safety of not only the passengers but also other road users. With this initiative, people can have a worry-free and enjoyable night out while prioritizing their safety and the safety of others.
By providing individuals with the means to easily access safe transportation, we hope to significantly reduce the number of driving while intoxicated (DWI) incidents. This proactive approach acknowledges that people may still choose to drink, but it prioritizes their safety and the safety of others by removing the option to drive under the influence. People don't drink to drive, they drive to drink. Ultimately, our goal is to create a culture where drinking responsibly and using alternative transportation go hand in hand, leading to a decrease in alcohol-related accidents and fatalities on the roads.
The second way we save lives is by addressing the challenges faced by inmates upon their release on parole. We recognize that many individuals are released with minimal resources and lack the financial knowledge to rebuild their lives successfully. To tackle this issue, we conduct live classes within prisons that focus on teaching inmates about money management and financial literacy. These classes cover topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, starting a small business and understanding credit. By equipping inmates with the essential skills and knowledge about how money works, we aim to break the cycle of repeated habits and empower them to make informed financial decisions upon their release. This not only helps them secure a stable future but also reduces the likelihood of them resorting to criminal activities.
1. Teach inmates how credit cards rip them off.
2. Teach them how to do job interviews.
3. Teach them how to set up and market their own company.
4. Teach them how to find the money to start a business.
5. Teach them how to avoid debt and why that’s so important.
6. Teach them about renting vs. buying.
7. Teach them how to pay lower taxes.
8. Teach them about IRAs and 401ks.
9. Teach them the 4 ways to make money.
10. Teach them the difference between good debt and bad debt.
11. Teach them how to claim the right number of withholding allowances.
12. Teach them how banks make money.
13. Make it easy not to drive drunk.
Most inmate waste their time in prison just waiting to get out. We give them hope for their future and help them develop and work for the day they are released. They use that time to plan for a successful future. Man can’t live on bread alone, he needs HOPE!
