Elizabeth Grant & Parents Through Her CHD Battle

Hi! My name is Alexis Gibson. My partner Wes Grant and I are the proud parents of Alexandria Lyn Elizabeth Grant. We call her Elizabeth/Lizzy as a nickname, so I will refer to her as Lizzy. She is currently 11 months old.

Lizzy was born on November 30th 2021, at OSU in Columbus, Ohio. She was immediately transferred to Nationwide Children's Hospital, where she was officially diagnosed with CHD, or Congenital Heart Disease. Her list of diagnoses originally included Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, or HLHS, but now includes Coarctation of the Aorta, Aortic Valve Stenosis, and Mitral Valve Stenosis.

Lizzy underwent open heart surgery on December 8th, 2021 in an attempt to correct her aorta, and she was thankfully discharged not long before Christmas.

Since then, Lizzy has been trying to live her life like many other child her age. She loves stuffed animals, crawling away from her Mom and Dad in an attempt to outrun them, putting everything she can find in her mouth, and pulling all the baby wipes out of the box. Her favorite foods are mushed apples with cinnamon, and yogurt bites. She falls asleep to classic Disney songs, and loves to play with our dog, Suki.

Unfortunately, this month, we were given the news that Lizzy's heart problems are going to mean she will need another open heart surgery within 3-6 months. The increasing severity of her Aortic Stenosis means that she will need an aortic valve transplant, which will take place at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

I have become Lizzy's caretaker. We are currently in the process of signing her up for Disability Income, but as expected, it's been a very long wait. As her caretaker I must stay home and tend to her needs, therefore Wes has been our only source of income.

Unfortunately, medical expenses and other bills have begun to pile up.

So please, if you could spare any money at all to help us, we would be grateful beyond words. This year has been so incredibly difficult, and any assistance at all would lift so much weight from our shoulders so that we can focus our attention away from financial stress, and onto our sweet baby girl.
