Elizabeth Velasquez

My name is Elizabeth, and I am 70 years old. As you probably already know, on March of this year, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I never imagined I would be writing a GoFundMe Story, but I am desperate in need of your help to raise money for my financial bills.

It all started in January when I went to the emergency room with a severe cough, difficult swallowing, weight loss and constant fatigue. After many tests, they send me home and I started medication for Pneumonia. A few weeks later the doctor called me to a devastating news that they found a large mass in my thyroid.

After multiple visits with doctors, I had a biopsy, and I was diagnosed with Papillary thyroid cancer.

On June 8th I had a total thyroidectomy at Moffit cancer Hospital, my recovery has been slow, and I have no energy to work, take of the house and my granddaughter, who I have been raising since birth. I don’t know what’s ahead in terms of treatments yet, but I am optimistic that I will be in remission soon.
